Our structure

Our operational service is split into six districts, aligned with the local district councils.

The Service as a whole is run by a chief fire officer - who is ultimately responsible for all aspects of the Service - and three directors, including the deputy and assistant chief fire officers, who each head a directorate of different groups and teams:

Further info about our Chief and three directors

Chief Fire Officer Graham Stagg joined us in February 2004 as Assistant Chief Fire Officer having served 21 years with London Fire Brigade.  He was appointed Chief Fire Officer in September 2007.

Deputy Chief Fire Officer Chris Strickland joined in September 2007 having served 24 years in Hertfordshire.  He is Director of Operations & Community Safety and is responsible for service delivery and the command and control of our 28 fire stations.  He also has accountability for equality and diversity in the Service.

Assistant Chief Fire Officer Neil Newberry became Head of Community Safety at Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service in December 2007, following 25 years in Herfordshire (4 years with HMFSI).  He has now been appointed Director of Operational Support and is responsible for Fire Control and the many essential operational support functions across the Service, such as Media and Communications, the Resource Management Unit, Occupational Health and safety Team, Training and Development and Fleet and Equipment.

Director of Resources Matthew Warren joined us from Cambridgeshire County Council in September 2003 as Head of Finance.  He was appointed Director of Resources in December 2007 and has responsibility for Contracts and Procurement, Finance, Planning and Performance, Payroll, ICT, Human Resources and Property.  He is also treasurer to the Fire Authority.
