Bobby Scheme

The fire service has teamed up with The Bobby Scheme to try and make vulnerable people safer from fire in their homes.

The Bobby Scheme is a charity and the aim of its workers is to secure the homes of burglary victims aged 60 and over, and non victims aged 65 and over or disabled residents.

The Bobbies not only fit security equipment to the homes of the elderly but also give safety advice which helps victims feel safe in their own homes again and it is as part of this activity that the charity fits smoke alarms and gives advice about fire safety. The Bobby Scheme offers the same service to non-victims for a small donation.

In its first year, more than 500 homes in Cambridgeshire received free home fire safety checks as part of a partnership agreement with The Bobby Scheme.
