Stack fire - A1073 - Peterborough

One crew from Dogsthorpe and one crew from Crowland were called to a stack fire on the A1073, Peterborough Road, near Crowland.

Firefighters arrived to discover 30 large bales of wheat straw which were well alight. Crews broke up the bales using hayforks and pulled them apart. The straw was then allowed to burn itself out.

This incident is still ongoing, although the majority of the fire is believed to have been extinguished.

Regular inspections were carried out throughout the afternoon and evening. The next inspection is planned for later this morning.

The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.
