Fire in building - Wisbech - Fenland

Fire control received a call to a fire at Constantine House in Nene Quay, Wisbech.

This is a three storey disused building. The ground floor used to be a shop and it is being converted into flats.

Firefighters arrived to find all three floors of the building and the roof well alight. Crews are now fighting the fire using two jets and one hose reel and also the turntable ladder from Dogsthorpe.  


Update, 2pm

The fire is now out apart from a couple of hotspots remaining. There will be some demolition work place at the site today to remove the chimney. This may cause the fire to flare up a little, but crews will be on site throughout.

A fire investigation to determine the cause of the fire will be taking place today.

Update, Wednesday, 9am

The fire investigation has now been completed and the cause of fire has been confirmed as deliberate.
