£1,000 raised at Huntingdon open day
Families flooded through the doors of Huntingdon Fire Station at an open day on Saturday (July 9).
Firefighters fought off the rain and welcomed the local community to the Hartford Road station to learn more about firefighting and staying safe in the community.
Just over £1,000 was also raised at the event for The Fire Fighters Charity, which supports firefighters and their families.
Firefighter Leon Collins, one of the organisers, said: “It was great to see so much support from the local community who turned out to the event, despite the weather not being great at the start of the day.
“As the sun came out so did more people and there were lots of smiley faces as the public got involved in activities and generously donated to our charity as well. We would like to thank all the local businesses that supported the event and staff who organised and attended the day.”
The next open day will be running at Dogsthorpe Fire Station on Saturday, July 16
