Animal rescue – Buckden Marina - Huntingdonshire

Two crews from Huntingdon and one from St Neots rescued a calf from the River Ouse at Buckden Marina.

Wearing dry suits and using a rescue sled, firefighters pulled the calf from the river where it had become stuck on a steep bank.

Station Commander Scott Feveyear said: “The calf was in distress when the crews arrived. It was calling up to its parents on the river bank and they were calling back so there was quite a lot of noise.

“The crews safely rescued it and reunited it with its family.”

The crews returned to their stations by 5.42pm.
