Animal rescue - Offord Cluny - Huntingdonshire

Crews from Huntingdon and Cambridge were called to an animal rescue after a small foal fell into the water at Offord Cluny.

Specialist in water crews and animal rescue crews entered the water in dry suits and rescued the foal by attaching a halter to it and guiding it back to the river bank where the foal was returned to its herd.

Crews were called to the scene after a member of the public had entered the water in an attempt to rescue the foal.

Station Commander Paul Clarke said: “It is important to remind people of the dangers of the water and whilst we understand how important animals are to people we would urge members of the public not to enter waterways to try and rescue animals but to call us straight away.”

Crews returned to their station by 9.07pm.
