Bins on fire - Wisbech - Fenland

At 2.32am on Thursday (6) one crew from Wisbech was called to a fire on Lynn Road in Wisbech.

Firefighters arrived to find a bin on fire an extinguished it using a hose reel. Further bins on Kinderley Road and Waterless Road were also found to be alight, which the crews extinguished using a hose reel.

They returned to their station by 4am.

The cause of the fires was deliberate. Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Station Commander Pete Jones, Arson Liaison Officer at CFRS, said: “Deliberate fires like these put lives at risk. Not only can they quickly get out of control and spread, they can also cause injury to the person or people starting them.

“While our crews are dealing fires such as these, they are unavailable for other potentially life threatening emergency situations. These fires are not only avoidable but can also put firefighter’s lives at risk.”
