Building fire - Halifax Road - Cambridge

Crews from Cambridge, Burwell, Linton, St Neots and a command unit from Huntingdon were called to a fire in Halifax Road, Cambridge.

A fire involving a fence and she'd had spread to the roof of a two-storey building used as flats.

The roof of the property was well alight and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels, jets and hydrants to extinguish it.

An aerial appliance attended to establish a water tower to enable the fire in the roof to be tackled from height.

The fire was extinguished at 5.53pm and crews remained on scene dampening down and ensuring the fire spread was thoroughly extinguished.

No one was involved in the fire. In total, four homes in Kingfisher Court, the initial property in Halifax Road, and one property in Canterbury Street were affected by the fire.

The cause of the fire was accidental and all crews returned to their stations by 9.25pm.
