Building fire - Swaffham Prior - East Cambs
13/09/2016 - 9.28PM
Four fire engines from Burwell, Newmarket and Cambridge, supported by the incident command vehicle and supporting crew from Huntingdon, attended a fire in an extension of a house in Cage Hill. Crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using two hose reels and two jets.
Station Commander Scott Feveyear said: “The crews did a fantastic job in preventing the fire spreading to the rest of the house as the fire had started to get into the roof. An explosion of an aerosol can alerted the couple to the fire and they were able to get out and call the fire service.”
The cause of the fire is accidental, most likely caused by an electrical fault.
The last crew returned back to the station at 1.40am.
