Chip pan fire - Chesterton - Cambridge
24/10/2016 - 8.28PM
Two crews from Cambridge and Cottenham were called to a chip pan fire in Scotland Road.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the smoke and returned to their stations by 9.13pm.
A male casualty inside the house suffered smoke inhalation.
Cause of the fire was accidental.
Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Chip pans can be extremely dangerous so we would always encourage people to use other methods of cooking chips, such as in an oven.”
