Fire in the open - Upwood - Huntingdonshire

A crew and water carrier from Ramsey were called to a fire in the open on the former RAF base in Upwood.

A large quantity of rubbish, including household white goods, rubber and wooden pallets, was on fire.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels and jets to extinguish the fire.

A second fire was discovered close by in a disused building and this was also extinguished.

Crews returned to their station by 8pm.

The cause of the fire was deliberate. Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
