Flat fire - Castle ward - Cambridge

At 5.59pm on Friday (3) two crews from Cambridge were called to a fire on Chatsworth Avenue in Castle ward, Cambridge.

Firefighters arrived to find a fire in the kitchen of a flat. Wearing breathing apparatus they extinguished the fire using a hose reel and cleared the smoke using a positive pressure ventilation fan.

One casualty was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire was accidental. A fire service spokesman said: “It is important when cooking to ensure you never leave pans on the hob unattended. If you have to leave the room, or need to do anything else, take pans off the heat.”
