Huntingdon Fire Station opens doors to the community

The community is invited to a family open day at Huntingdon Fire Station next month (July).

Meet the firefighters and take part in interactive activities at the event on Saturday, July 9, which runs from 11.30am until 3.30pm.

Spectators can watch a live demonstration of how firefighters use specialist equipment to safely rescue casualties from road traffic collisions, as well as learn what happens when you pour water on a hot chip pan fire.

Fire engines, safety information and stands from emergency service partners including Magpas, will also fill the Hartford Road fire station for visitors to look around.

The event is free and suitable for all the family. Hot food and snacks will be on sale and any funds raised will be donated to The Fire Fighters Charity and other local causes.

Fun games, including dunk the firefighter, will also be running.

Watch Commander Steve Fleming, event organiser, said: “We’ve got lots of exciting activities planned for all the family that will hopefully give the community a better idea of what we do as firefighters as well as help them learn more about safety. Please come on down to support the event and take this opportunity to have a sneak peek around our station, fire engines and training.”
