Standing crop fire - Cottenham - South Cambs

At 2.46pm on Tuesday 25 July crews were called to a fire involving standing crops on Broad Lane, Cottenham.

Firefighters from Cambridge, Ely, St Neots, Huntingdon, Chatteris and Kimbolton, responded, along with the incident command unit from Huntingdon, and crews and the water carrier from Newmarket (Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service).

Crews arrived to find approximately 40 acres of standing crops on fire. Firefighters used hose reels and beaters to tackle the fire before returning to their stations by 5.50pm.

The cause of the fire of the fire is unknown.
