Garage fire - Abington - South Cambs

At 6.13am over 50 firefighters, 10 fire engines and a water carrier attended a garage fire on Back Road in Abington that had spread to fencing and a house.

Wearing breathing apparatus firefighters used hose reels and jets to extinguish the fire. Firefighters worked hard to prevent the fire from spreading to the main part of the house, however the garage and extension have been severely damaged. Some crews remain at the scene dampening down.

Crews attended from Cambourne, Cambridge, Huntingdon and Gamlingay along with Saffron Walden (Essex) and Newmarket and Haverhill (Suffolk).

An investigation will take place to identify the cause of the fire.
