Person trapped - Chatteris - Fenland

Round House Drove, Chatteris.

Crews were called to a report of a man trapped involving a glass hearse carriage. It is understood that the man was inside an LGV unloading the horse-drawn hearse when it shifted and pinned him so he was unable to move.  Firefighters from Chatteris and Ramsey and a rescue vehicle from Dogsthorpe attended and used airbags and mechanical equipment to free the man.

The casualty was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

Crews had returned to their stations by 1.20pm.

Station Commander Ady Slack said: "The crews were faced with a difficult task with a horse draw carriage trapping an adult within a LGV box lorry. Crews worked well with ambulance paramedics and doctors on scene to rescue the man, who was taken to hospital by air ambulance."
