Road traffic collision - Whittlesey - Fenland

Two crews from Stanground and Whittlesey were called to a road traffic accident in Kings Delph after a car came off the road and drove down a 20-foot embankment.

Firefighters used ladders and specialist stretchers to pull the casualty from the embankment and returned to their stations by 7.49pm.

Station Commander Ady Slack praised the actions of a member of the public, who administered first aid on the casualty before the paramedics arrived, as well as the 'tireless' work of the ambulance crews.

He said: "The member of the public concerned pulled the male casualty from the car and administered first aid before the arrival of ambulance crews.

"Early involvement by the member of the public supported the amublance service in their work."
SC Slack also praised the work of the ambulance crews: "They worked tirelessly on the causalty for over an hour before taking him to hospital in an ambulance."
