St Neots Fire Station opens doors to the community

St Neots Community Fire Station is opening its doors to the public this coming Saturday (September 24), promising a fun packed day for all the family.

The event, which runs from 11am until 4pm, boasts live demonstrations, vintage fire engines, a train ride around the orchards, refreshments, a bouncy castle and fun activities such as dunk a firefighter, wet sponge throwing and using a hose.

Spectators can watch how firefighters use specialist equipment to safely rescue casualties from road traffic collisions and perform a ladder rescue, as well as learn what happens when you pour water on a hot chip pan fire.

You can also meet colleagues from other emergency service partners including East Anglia Air Ambulance, HELIMED and the ambulance service.

The event is free and suitable for all the family. There will be a raffle with great prizes generously donated by local businesses including an Xbox One and 42 inch flat screen TV. All funds raised will be donated to The Fire Fighters Charity.

Station Commander Scott Feveyear said: “We’ve got lots of exciting activities planned for all the family that will hopefully give the community a better idea of what we do as firefighters as well as help them learn more about safety. Please come on down to support the event and take this opportunity to have a look around our station and fire engines.”
