Vehicle in water - Tilbrook - Huntingdonshire

A crew from St Neots was called to a reports of a person trapped in a vehicle in flood water on the B645 at Tilbrook.

The water was rising rapidly and was fast moving, making it unsafe for the driver to leave his vehicle. Firefighters in dry suits waded out to the vehicle and pushed it to safety, enabling the driver to be released.

The crew returned to its station by 8.25pm.

Watch Commander Rob Robinson said: “We are urging drivers to never pass through flood water. In this instance, the road was unlit and extremely dark so the motorist could not see how deep or how fast moving the water was until it was too late.

“If you are out and about on our county’s roads and come across a flooded road, attempt to find an alternative route. You never know what lies beneath the surface or how fast the water is flowing.”
