Waste on fire - Eastfield - Peterborough

A crew from Dogsthorpe was called to a fire in the open in Flag Fen, Eastfield.

A large amount of rubbish and garden waste had been dumped and set on fire. Hose reels were used to extinguish it and the crew returned to station by 6.50pm.

The cause of the fire was deliberate.

A CFRS spokesman said: “We are urging residents to dispose of waste responsibly by taking it to a waste and recycling centre. Fly-tipping and setting the waste on fire is not only damaging to the local environment but it is unpleasant to the community and wastes the time of firefighters who could otherwise be working to protect their community or even attending a real emergency.”
