Recruitment
It takes many kinds of people, in many different roles around the county, to keep our Service functioning well.
Our current vacancies are now listed on the new dedicated Vacancies page.
We employ around 280 wholetime firefighters, around 370 firefighters on the retained duty system, 30 control operators who answer 999 calls and mobilise our fire crews, and over 125 support staff who work in a whole variety of roles supporting the frontline, from vehicle technicians and project managers to cooks, administrators and accountants.
There are many job opportunities within Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service and you can enjoy a career with us, helping to keep people safe from fire, even if you don't want to be a firefighter.
Use the menu on the left to find out more about both operational and non-operational roles.
Questions about recruitment
Many of the questions you may have about the application and recruitment processes for firefighters can be found in the Wholetime and Retained sections. Additionally, we often direct people to UK Fire Service Resources for further information. We do not endorse any third-party products or services, however you may find this unofficial external website a useful resource.
Equality and Diversity
Equality and diversity are important to us, which is why we have produced a Diversity & Equality Statement. This is included in all vacancy application packs, but you can also download it here:
