House fire - March - Fenland

Crews from March, Chatteris and Wisbech attended a fire in a bungalow in Breton Avenue.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and returned to their stations by 10.31am.

Sadly a female casualty was confirmed as deceased at the scene by a paramedic.

Station Commander Gavin Hammond, from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service, said early indications from a fire investigation showed cause of fire was a heating element used for heating liquid setting alight a carpet.

Details of the incident have been passed to the coroner.
