Bonfire out of control - New England - Peterborough

Crews from Sawtry, and one from Lincolnshire, were called to a bonfire that got out of control at a home in Burmer Road which spread to fences and a garden shed.

Firefighters used two hose reels to extinguish the fire and returned to their stations by 1.58pm.

Top tips if having a bonfire include:

  • Light the fire well away from buildings, sheds, fencing and shrubs/trees
  • Stay with the bonfire at all times until it is out
  • Keep children and animals away from the fire
  • Do not light the bonfire if it is breezy as the wind can cause the bonfire to quickly spread.
