Flat fire – city centre - Peterborough

At 12.45am on Wednesday (23) one crew from Dogsthorpe, one crew from Stanground and one crew from the Peterborough Volunteers Fire Brigade were called to a fire on St Johns Street on Peterborough city centre.

Firefighters arrived to find a well-developed fire in a third floor flat. Wearing breathing apparatus they extinguished the fire using a hose reel and a jet and used a thermal imaging camera to check neighbouring properties fire hot spots and fire spread.

The flat was evacuated before the crews arrived at the scene.

The crews returned to their stations by 4.30am.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.

The fire investigation concluded the cause of the fire was accidental.
