Fire in the open – Willingham - South Cambs
At 4.34pm on Tuesday (3) one crew from Cottenham and one crew from Cambridge were called to a fire on Black Pit Drove in Willingham.
Firefighters arrived to find an unattended bonfire that was spreading to a nearby field. They extinguished the fire using a hose reel and returned to their stations by 6.30pm.
A fire service spokesman said: “Bonfire should never be left unattended. An adult should supervise it until it has burnt out. If it has to be left, damp it down with plenty of water and ensure it is fully out before leaving the area.
