Fire in the open - Gamlingay - South Cambs
At 3.36pm on Wednesday (11) one crew from Gamlingay was called to a fire on Long Lane in Gamlingay.
Firefighters arrived to find a bonfire that was out of control and was spreading to a nearby outbuilding. They extinguished the fire using a hose reel and checked the area using a thermal imaging camera.
The crews returned to their station by 4.55pm.
A fire service spokesman said: “Bonfires should never be left unattended. An adult should supervise it until it has burnt out. If it has to be left, damp it down with plenty of water and ensure it is fully out before leaving the area.
