Lorry fire - Catworth - Huntingdonshire

On Monday (22) at 7.58pm crews were called to a lorry fire on the A14 westbound near Catworth.

Firefighters from Huntingdon, St Ives, Sawtry and the water carry from Ramsey attended, along with the water carrier from Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service and crews from Thrapston and Raunds from Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Crews arrived to find a lorry on fire after leaving the carriage way. The cab unit was well alight and firefighters worked to prevent further spread to the trailer unit. One casualty was out of the vehicle on arrival.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters used hose reels and the cobra system to extinguish the fire, before using a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the smoke.

Magpas and the ambulance service were also in attendance.

Crews returned to their stations by 1.15am.
