At 8.11pm on Sunday (18) crews were called to a fire on Queensway, Trumpington Road in Cambridge.

Crews from Cambridge, Cottenham, Burwell, Papworth and Huntingdon, along with crews from Newmarket in Suffolk, attended the incident.

Firefighters arrived to find a well-developed fire involving a first floor flat in a three-storey building. Wearing breathing apparatus they extinguished the fire using hose reels and jets, and cleared the smoke using a positive pressure ventilation fan.

The property was evacuated when the crews arrived.

The crews returned to their stations by 12.15am.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
