Chimney fire – Romsey ward - Cambridge

At 2.28pm on Friday (24) a crew from Cambridge was called to a fire on Belgrave Road in Romsey ward, Cambridge.

Firefighters arrived to find a fire involving a chimney in a house and extinguished it. They returned to their station by 4.30pm.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

A fire service spokesman said: “Please ensure that you get your chimney swept and brick work inspected at least once a year, preferably before lighting it when the cold weather arrives. The build-up of debris can lead to a fire spreading from the chimney flue to the rest of a house. Getting your chimney swept regularly will help to prevent a chimney fire and keep your home safe.”
