Building fire – Prickwillow - East Cambs

At 12.43am on Tuesday (5) crews were called to a fire on Ely Road in Prickwillow.  

Crews from Ely and Littleport, along with crews from Newmarket and Mildenhall in Suffolk, attended the incident.  

Firefighters arrived to find a well-developed fire in a steel-framed building containing recycled household waste. They have worked hard throughout the night to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading.  

Crews remain at the scene tackling the fire and making sure the area is safe.

Update – Wednesday April 6 

Crews continued to work throughout the day to prevent the fire from spreading. The fire was fully extinguished and crews left the scene by around 3pm.  

Regular inspections were carried out through the night to ensure the area was safe.  

The cause of the fire was accidental.
