Fire in the open – Soham - East Cambs

At 6.13pm on Thursday (22) crews from Soham and Ely, along with crews from Newmarket in Suffolk, were called to a fire on Great Fen Road in Soham.  

Firefighters arrived to find a well-developed fire involving conifers and trees, spreading to power lines and a telegraph pole. They extinguished the fire using hose reels and returned to their stations by 10.20pm. 

A male casualty was treated for smoke inhalation and left in the care of ambulance crews. 

The cause of the fire was accidental.
