Garage fire - Babraham - South Cambs

On Wednesday (5) at around 2.45pm, crews were called to reports of a house fire on Sawston Road, Babraham. Crews from Cambridge, Burwell, Sawston, and the south roaming fire engine attended. They were also joined by the water carrier from Newmarket and a crew from Haverhill, from Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service.

Crews arrived to find a fire in a double garage. Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters worked to get the fire under control and prevent it spreading to the adjoining house.

The fire was extinguished and crews left the area by around 5.30pm. The property was reinspected for hotspots later in the evening.

A fire investigator will attend today to establish the most likely cause of the fire.
