Chimney fire – Spaldwick - Huntingdonshire

At 3.59pm on Friday (21) crews from Huntingdon, Dogsthorpe, and the turntable ladder aerial appliance from Stanground, were called to a fire on Stow Road in Spaldwick.

Firefighters arrived to find a fire involving a chimney in a house. They extinguished the fire and returned to their stations by 8pm.

Stow Road was temporarily closed to ensure the crews could tackle the fire safely.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

A fire service spokesman said: “Please ensure that you get your chimney swept and brick work inspected at least once a year, preferably before lighting it when the cold weather arrives. This will help to prevent a chimney fire.”
