Lamb rescue – A605 - Fenland

At 7.51pm on Thursday (15) crews from March, Wisbech and Dogsthorpe were called to reports of a lamb stuck near Wisbech St Mary Wash, off the A605.

Firefighters arrived to find a lamb stuck in muddy water and safely released and returned it to its herd. They returned to their stations by 9.30pm.

The crews initially struggled to locate the incident as the area was quite remote and the caller couldn’t identify any landmarks. This is where the what3words app, which has divided the globe into 3 metre squares and given them unique word combinations, is so useful. By having the app on a phone, the three-word location can be passed to our control operator, who can give it to the crews so they can get to the incident quickly. The app is available on any app store and is free to download.
