Lorry fire - M11 - Cambridge

On Sunday (22) at 8am, crews were called to reports of a lorry on fire on the M11 Northbound (Coton to Girton).

The south roaming fire engine, two crews from Cambridge, a crew from Chatteris, Huntingdon, and St Ives, and the water carrier from Ramsey were mobilised. A crew from Royston (Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service) also responded.

Crews arrived to find a lorry carrying car parts and batteries well alight.

Firefighters got to work extinguishing the fire and set up a water shuttle to get more water to the incident.

Manchetts Vehicle Recovery also assisted at the incident to help break down the contents of the trailer and separate the load.

Firefighters remained on scene until around 9.30pm.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
