Building fire – city centre - Peterborough

At 5.54am on Friday (16) crews from Stanground and Dogsthorpe were called to a fire on Cowgate in Peterborough City Centre.

Firefighters arrived to find a fire on the ground floor of a three-storey building involving a commercial kitchen. Wearing breathing apparatus they extinguished the fire using a hose reel and a jet and cleared the smoke using a positive pressure ventilation fan.

The building was evacuated when the crews arrived.

The crews returned to their stations by 8am.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
