Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) is asking people to plan ahead for Storm Dennis weekend.
With it set to be another windy weekend, CFRS is calling on residents to make sure they secure items in the garden, such as trampolines, garden furniture, hanging signage and wheelie bins, before the storm arrives on Saturday.
A Met Office Yellow Warning for Wind is in place for all of the East of England, from 10am on Saturday until 12pm on Sunday. During the weekend we may see the strongest gusts of around 50 to 60mph from mid-afternoon Saturday and then continue into Sunday morning.
People are being encouraged to consider whether their journeys are really necessary before setting off, and if they need to go out, to take extra care. Due to the rain forecast, there is likely to be difficult travelling conditions – and local surface water flooding is possible. Make sure you drive to the weather conditions, stay patient and give more distance for braking in wet conditions.
If residents do come across a fallen tree or debris in the road, please contact the police on 999 if there is a risk to life, or 101 in a non-emergency. If you experience a power cut, call UK Power Networks on 105.
