House fire – Ely - East Cambs

At 4.28pm on Sunday (27) a crew from Cambridge and the south roaming fire engine, along with crews from Newmarket in Suffolk, were called to a fire on West Fen Road in Ely.  

Firefighters arrived to find a fire in the kitchen of a house. Wearing breathing apparatus they extinguished the fire using a hose reel and cleared the smoke using a positive pressure ventilation fan.  

A male casualty required treatment for smoke inhalation and was left in the care of ambulance crews. 

The crews returned to their stations by 6.20pm. 

The cause of the fire was accidental.
