Stack fire - Litlington - South Cambs

On Sunday (24) at 2.09pm, crews responded to a stack fire on Royston Road, Litlington.

Firefighters from across the Eastern region attended. Two crews from Bedfordshire, a crew from Cambridge, the south roaming fire engine, Cottenham, Linton, St Neots, the water carrier from Ramsey, Huntingdon, along with crews from Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service responded. A drone team also attended.

Crews arrived to find a stack on fire spreading to the surrounding field.

The farming community assisted using farm machinery to create a firebreak and minimise the spread of fire.

Firefighters used hose reel jets and small gear to get the fire under control.

The incident began scaling back at around 5.30pm. Firefighters carried out a watching brief during the evening.
