Chimney fire – Wistow - Huntingdonshire

At 3.25pm on Saturday (12) crews from St Neots and Stanground were called to a fire on Mill Road in Wistow.

Firefighters arrived to find a fire involving a chimney in a house. They extinguished the fire and returned to their stations by 7.15pm.

A fire service spokesman said: “Please ensure that you get your chimney swept and brick work inspected regularly, at least once a year. The debris buildup in the flue can be set alight when heating the home, which could cause a significant fire. Regular chimney maintenance will help prevent this from happening.

“As the cold weather begins to arrive, it is important to get your chimney swept before lighting it for the first time.”
