Roof fire - Alwalton Hill - Peterborough

At 1.50pm on Friday (23) crews from Stanground, Dogsthorpe, Huntingdon, Oundle (Northamptonshire), March, Chatteris, Peterborough Volunteer Fire Brigade, Wisbech and St Neots along with both the North and South roaming fire engines were called to a roof fire on Waterworth Road in Alwalton Hill, Peterborough.

Over 50 firefighters supported by a turntable ladder and water carrier worked hard to tackle a fire involving solar panels on the roof of a distribution warehouse. Wearing breathing apparatus firefighters used hose reels to extinguish the fire, saving the building and keeping the damage contained to the roof.

All crews returned to their stations by 7.40pm.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
