Fire in the open – Willingham - South Cambs

At 11.51am on Saturday (9) crews were called to a fire on Priest Lane in Willingham.

Crews from Ely, Cambridge, Gamlingay and Huntingdon, along with the south roaming fire engine, the misting unit from Burwell and a water carrier from Newmarket in Suffolk.

Firefighters arrived to find a large fire in a field involving standing crop. They worked hard with hose reels and beaters and brough the fire under control and extinguished it.

The crews left the scene and returned to their stations by 4.30pm.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
