Fire in the open – Great Shelford - South Cambs

At 1.58pm on Wednesday (20) crews were called to a fire on Hinton Way in Great Shelford. 

Around 50 firefighters, including crews from Cambridge, Littleport, Ely, Burwell, Gamlingay, St Neots, Chatteris and Huntingdon, along with the roaming fire engines and crews from Newmarket in Suffolk and Royston in Hertfordshire, attended the incident. 

Firefighters arrived to find a well-developed fire involving a tractor that spread to large area of field. They are working hard to tackle fire and prevent it spreading further.  

Residents in the area that are impacted by the smoke should keep their doors and windows closed as a precaution.  

The smoke is also impacting the M11 between Duxford and Trumpington. Motorists should slow down and drive with caution.
