Lorry fire - A14 - Huntingdonshire

At 4.15pm on Monday (25) crews from Cambridge, the south roaming fire engine, St Neots,  Gamlingay, Soham, Sutton, Burwell and Huntingdon along with a crew from Newmarket with a water carrier, were called to a lorry fire on the A14 Westbound between Bar Hill and Swavesey.

Crews arrived to find a lorry well alight carrying bales of straw. They used hose reels and jets to extinguish the fire. The last fire engine on scene returned to their station by 2.30am on Tuesday (26). 

Both carriageways of the A14 were closed while the incident was dealt with and recovery and the road surface condition was assessed. The road was reopened by 5am on Tuesday (26) with one lane closed on the westbound carriageway for resurfacing.

There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
