Recycling centre fire - March - Fenland

On Thursday (16) at 7.07pm, crews were called to a fire at a recycling centre on Knights End Road, March.

 

Crews from March, Chatteris, Wisbech, Manea, Whittlesey and the water carrier from Ramsey responded.

 

Firefighters arrived to find thick smoke coming from the premises and a large amount of scrap metal on fire.

 

Using jets and hose reels, firefighters worked hard to get the fire under control and prevent further spread.

 

Firefighters scaled down and left the area by 5.30am. 

 

During the incident, residents nearby were encouraged to close windows and doors due to the smoke.

 

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
