Fire in the open - Hampton - Peterborough

On Tuesday (25) at 3.48pm, crews were called to a fire at Hampton Nature Reserve, Natures Way, Hampton.

Crews have responded from Dogsthorpe, Yaxley, Stanground, Huntingdon, March, Chatteris, Gamlingay, St Neots and Peterborough Volunteer Fire Brigade, along with a specialist 4x4 vehicle.

Crews are working hard to contain the fire, which is affecting grass and trees. Crews are also being assisted by a farmer with a water bowser.

Smoke may be affecting the Fletton Parkway and neighbouring houses, so motorists should drive past the fire with caution and residents should keep doors and windows closed if affected by the smoke.


Update, 7.30pm

The incident is now under control and crews are scaling back at the scene.
