Road traffic collision - Whittlesey - Fenland

On Saturday (13) at 5.39pm, crews from Stanground, Dogsthorpe and Manea, together with the north roaming fire engine and a water carrier, attended a road traffic collision on Ramsey Road in Whittlesey.

A car had collided with an electric pylon, which had collapsed onto the car. The electric charge had set fire to foliage which spread to the car and to peat under the car which further spread to the surrounding area.

Crews used two jets, one hose reel jet and beaters to extinguish the fire.

Crews returned the following day to deal with remaining hot spots in the peat.
