Lorry fire - A1 Northbound - Huntingdonshire

At 3.31pm on Monday (15), crews from St Neots, Huntingdon and Kimbolton were called to reports of a lorry fire on the A1 Northbound between Little Paxton and Buckden. 

Crews arrived to find the trailer of the lorry well alight, which contained recyclable materials.

Wearing breathing apparatus, crews used hose reels and jets to get the fire under control. There was a road closure in place on the A1 Northbound between Little Paxton and Buckden.

Once safe to do so, crews escorted the lorry to a safe place away from the main carriageway where the load will be emptied and checked for any hotspots. They reinspected the load overnight and into Tuesday (16).

The cause of the fire was accidental.
