Service commits to supporting the Armed Forces

The Service has joined a wide range of organisations in signing the Armed Forces Covenant. 

The Covenant represents a commitment from the nation to treat those who serve or have served in the forces, along with their families, with fairness and respect. Its goal is to ensure those in the forces community are not disadvantaged when accessing public or commercial services. 

The signing took place at Huntingdon Fire Station, where the chief officer team were joined by representatives of the armed forces. 

Assistant Director John Fagg said: “Signing the Armed Forces Covenant demonstrates the Service’s commitment to supporting the forces community, which includes veterans and families of service personnel. We will be doing more to promote employment opportunities for service leavers and for partners and children of forces personnel.”  

The Service will also be looking at how it can support colleagues who would like to be a Reservist, an opportunity that wasn’t previously open to operational colleagues. 

After signing the covenant, the Service is now working towards Bronze accreditation of the Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS).
